Centipede grass:

Warm-season grass forming a dense, medium to dark green turf - produces an attractive lawn with a medium to coarse textured grass blade - a very low maintenance grass. Good general-purpose grass for lawns ; well adapted to hot, humid and tropical climate. Grows well where rainfall is high and summers are warm and humid - popular because of low maintenance. Centiped grows well in full sun, tolerant to high temperatures, up to 100F, but sensitive to low temperatures, going dormant through winter months at temperatures below 55F. Ranks between Bermuda and St. Augustine on heat tolerance. Centipede is sensitive to drought, but can recover rapidly. May go into summer dormancy when irrigation is withheld, upon return of moisture supply, will green up again. Some varieties maintain adequate turf quality in 60% shade such as under a stand of pine trees. Centipede does have poor wear resistance and a slow growth pattern.
